Answers before you call
Why not leather on a boat?
Leather is wonderful in a car interior. On the water it is a maintenance problem — standing water, UV and salt will dry it out and crack it within a season or two.
My cushions stay damp. Can that be fixed?
Usually yes, and the foam is normally the culprit rather than the cover. Quick-dry reticulated foam lets water pass through instead of holding it against the cushion.
Do I have to bring the whole boat?
No. Bring one cushion or one piece of canvas by the shop and we can tell you what you are looking at.
My canvas has gone chalky — recover or replace?
Depends how far it has gone. Chalking is usually a sign of a cheaper coated fabric reaching the end of its life. We will give you an honest answer when we see it.
